1951 Alvis TA21 Drophead Coupe

1951 Alvis TA21 Drophead Coupe by Tickford

This the beautiful classic car restored, the British 2-door drophead coupé produced by Alvis Cars in 1951, it a TA21 model very rare, built by Tickford only 302 dropheads and this is one of only 80 produced in Left Hand Drive. The total TA21 production is 1316.

The Alvis type TA21 was announced in 1950, looking much like its TA14 predecessor but featuring independent front suspension and a new, overhead-valve, six cylinder, three litre engine. Styled along classic, pre-war lines, the Three Litre was reckoned by Autocar magazine to appeal to 'discerning owners who appreciate quality and good handling as well as performance.' Additions to the range of models were not long in coming; a sports two-seater and a Tickford bodied two-door drophead coupé being announced for the 1951 season. The introduction of open-top models was calculated to boost sales in the United States market where Alvis was beginning to make an impact. Perhaps the best thing about it is that many of the handling characteristics of the sportscar have been built into the chassis which, combined with a low centre of gravity and a reasonable amount of space, make this fine car something of a compromise suited to those who want both family car and sportscar features all in one.

Tickford built 302 dropheads and this is one of only 80 produced in Left Hand Drive. The total TA21 production is 1316.

This car was completed on February 4, 1952 and delivered to De Nederlandsche Motors Rotterdam with the following special features: Lucas headlamps, dip switch and pattress, Trico windscreen washer, Bonnet ventilators, polished wood cappings to screen pillars, twin carburetors and heat def., sun visors, new d/light levers, Kilo speedometer, and Dunlop tires.

It is reputed that the first owner was Pia Beck, a famous Dutch jazz pianist and singer. Besides being considered the "best Jazz pianist in the world" and performing for such dignitaries as General Eisenhower, Walter Cronkite, the British Royal Family, and Freddy Heineken, Pia Beck owned over 47 different cars in her lifetime with open sports cars her favorite. Other owners are the Museum in the Netherlands, Stephen Langton (Surrey, England) and then in 1987 the car was exported to Canada where it had two owners.

The car is finished in Willow Green with fawn leather interior and top. It was restored and is manual shift.

1993 Bentley Continental R

1993 Bentley Continental R For Sale By The Owner

This a large luxury coupé and it's the most expensive production car in the world at launch offered by British luxury automaker Bentley Motors Limited, subsidiary of the German company Volkswagen AG. It was the fastest, most expensive, and most powerful Bentley of its day. Yes it's about Bentley Continental R, first Bentley to feature a body not shared with a Rolls-Royce model. As the picture is the Continental R 1993 model year come with very low mile, always been garaged, excellent condition looking for new home.

Detail by owner
The Bentley Continental R is a large, ultra exclusive, luxury coupe with only 1,236 units made by Bentley from 1991 to 2003. It was the first Bentley to feature a body not shared with a Rolls-Royce model since the S3 of 1965, the first to use the GM 4L80-E automatic transmission and the fastest, most expensive, and most powerful Bentley of its day. It was also the most expensive production car in the world at launch costing over $270,000. A convertible derivative, the Bentley Azure was launched in 1995.

The concept car that later became the Continental R was displayed at the 1984 Geneva Motor Show as Rolls-Royce's "Project 90" concept car, a mock-up of a future Bentley coupé. An enthusiastic reception led the company to develop the vehicle for production as the Continental R. The "Continental" designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The "R" was meant to recall the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950s as well as the Turbo R of the 1980s and 90's where the "R" refers to "roadholding". Based on the Bentley Turbo R platform, an aerodynamically shaped coupé body had been styled. The finished car is widely acknowledged as a very cleverly styled vehicle, disguising its huge dimensions (The Continental R is around 4" longer than a 2013 long wheelbase Mercedes S Class) and a very well proportioned, extremely attractive car. The Continental R was launched at the 1991 Geneva Motor Show and was greeted by the onlooking crowd with spontaneous applause. The Sultan of Brunei purchased the show car on-site.

The 6.75 L Garrett-Turbocharged engine from the Bentley Turbo R was chosen for use in the Continental R. Power output of 325 hp and torque of 450 lb·ft was estimated, as at that time Rolls-Royce still had a policy of not supplying official figures, preferring to describe power simply as "adequate" or "sufficient".

The car used the new 4-speed GM 4L80-E automatic transmission and featured self-leveling hydraulic suspension (adaptive ride/Automatic Ride Control), and power front and solid rear disc brakes. Engine management was via the MK-Motronic digital fuel injection with fully mapped ignition control system. At launch, top speed was an impressive 145 mph (233 km/h) and it had a 0-60 mph (97 km/h) time of 6.6 seconds.

The example offered here is a three-owner, low-mile Texas/Nevada car that has always been garaged, is rust and accident-free, and is in excellent mechanical condition. Only showing the slightest of wear on the driver's seat, the rest of the Connolly leather seats, headliner, door panels, arm rests, and dash are in perfect condition. The burled walnut dash, door trim, and center accents all show a high gloss with no cracking. The interior and trunk compartment carpeting are as-new with no signs of wear or stains. All interior and exterior bright work are in perfect condition. Such pristine examples as this are getting harder and harder to find and this one surely won't last long.
