Barn Find Land Rover 110
This a Land Rover Defender long wheelbase commonly known as the Land Rover 110 is a British four-wheel-drive off-road utility vehicle developed from the original Land Rover Series. As the picture is Land Rover 110 built in 1986 it barn find car has been rebuilt and restoration import from U.K. The Defender would become collectible vehicles, in October 2013 Land Rover announced that production would end in December 2015, after a continuous run of 67 years.Detail by owner
RHD 1986 Land Rover 110 with factory 3.5L V8 with power steering. Only 75,878 miles from new.
This vehicle was purchased in the UK as a barn find & had been in storage for 6 years hence the low mileage. This vehicle has only had 4 owners throughout its 29 years of life.
As soon as we got the vehicle it was apparent the engine needed some tlc, so a full engine rebuild was in order (this was due to sitting in storage for 6 years) which was completed by a former Land Rover Sollihol mechanic, at the same time we installed a new clutch kit. (Please see image of engine re-build). The V8 is now like a new engine & has that classis V8 note, starts first time every time, idle's nicely & has good acceleration.
The bulletproof LT85, 5 speed transmission is in excellent condition so it's the matching LT-230 transfer box which shifts from low-high with ease.
All hubs & axles have been checked & if required new bearings/seals installed. All fluids renewed. All brakes have been checked & are in good condition. New front cooper brake lines have been installed. New rubber fuel lines have been installed.
All new suspension all round including springs, shocks & hardware as well as new steering damper.
The 110 was treated to a complete set of new lights, new bowls, headlights, side lights, indicators, & all rear lights. Installed were the Wipac brand which are considered the best quality. To complement the new lights, new light surrounds & grill finishes the front end nicely. The grill frame has been shot blasted & powder coated.
The chassis is solid & has been fully coated in loctites rubberized undercoating (this is thinner than waxoil which I prefer as it doesn't hide any nasty surprises, however still gives excellent corrosion resistantcy). A new rear crossmember has been welded in as well as 2 new bulkhead outriggers.
The bulkhead is in great condition, either side footwells were replaced with new items.
All new glass rubbers all round including a brand new windshield with new wiper arms & blades.
All door bottoms have been replaced with new, both front doors have new door skins & the rear door is a brand new unit.
All 4 original steel wheels have been shot blasted & powder coated, as well as the rear tow bar & brackets.
A full exterior re-spray in burgendy metallic really makes this 110 stand out.
The interior is completely original & is still in excellent condition. We have not touched the interior as it was in such good condition other than give it a good clean & the headliner was jet washed which is too in good condition. If you wish to change the seats or add a new carpet kit to modernize the interior this is very easy to do & many options available at Exmoor trim or even customize to your own taste.
We also have not installed a new sound system, once again there is a huge range available however all pre-wiring is ready to be hooked up.
This Defender has all matching untampered VINS & has passed EPA/DOT inspections, cleared customs without issue & has a clean FL title in hand. Also comes with a Genuine Land Rover Certificate of build.
To conclude, this is a great 110 that has been restored to a standard that allows the new owner to customize the interior to their own taste. Mechanically in great condition with a solid chassis, it is looking forward to it new life here in the USA. Please however understand this is a soon approaching 30 year old vehicle & as such there are no warrenties so please do not expect it to be a new 2015 truck.
