Here's some background on our Volkswagen Dasher, it was the forerunner of the popular VW Passat, which has been manufactured since 1973. The name Dasher did not last long in the U.S. before the name Passat took over, but it was introduced to the US market in 1974 as Dasher. The Dasher sold in North America as a three-door hatchback, a five-door hatchback, and a four door sedan with separate trunk which is our version, and a station wagon version . Today, these early Passats, badged as Dashers, are hard-to-find collector's items. the name change alone from Dasher to Passat has made it all the more collectable.
